The motifs of Heikki Kukkonen's art are often inspired by his everyday surroundings. His current of pastel paintings and graphics combine monumental strength with minimalistic form. On the other hand, he shows sensitivity in using colors. His works have both the character of painting and graphic art. He also combines abstract and performing elements. Much is left for the viewer's imagination.

After living almost twenty years in Spain he is now living and working again in Finland.
